UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team competed at Utica this past weekend, and left with multiple impressive performances.
On Friday night,
Annabelle Czekanski picked up a first place finish in the 5000m with a time of 18:46.13. The Knights kicked off the meet on Saturday a high note again, with the team of Kayla Anastasia,
Lindsay Tellez,
Stella Riley, and
Isabella Lagios winning the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:44.09, beating out second place by less than a second. In the mile, Geneseo earned the top two spots behind
Sierra Doody (5:04.82) and
Shelby Boise (5:13.73).
Jillian Ambler added another first place finish to the Knights day, posting a time of 8.63 in the 60m hurdles for a facility record. In the 400m,
Nicole Gretzinger and
Ava Brogan took second and third with times of 58.97 and 1:00.23, respectively.
Brynn Mooney, Tellez, and Lagios went on to finish second through fourth in the 200m, respectively.
Ann Brennan took third in the 3000m with a time of 10:09.41, while the team of Mooney, Ambler,
Sophia Barclay, and Brogan, capped off the track events with a first place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:57.27.
In the field events,
Lauren Jaklitsch provided a big highlight by posting a distance of 18.12m in the weight throw, marking a new program record and the fourth best distance so far this season in Division III. Ambler added a second place showing in the long jump with a distance of 5.55m, while
Marisa Mazzacco took third in the triple jump. In the shot put,
Payton Mehalick finished second at a distance of 12.56m.
Elaina Flaitz kept the impressive showings going with a second place finish in the high jump at 1.57m.
