Geneseo Earns Six Weekly Honors from the Empire 8

GENESEO, N.Y. - The Empire 8 announced their weekly honors on Monday afternoon, and SUNY Geneseo had six student-athletes take home honors. Ryan Hagan and Sierra Doody brought home men's and women's Track Athlete of the Week, respectively, while the swimming and diving teams swept all four honors behind Alex Palmer (Men's Swimmer), Greg Meder (Men's Diver), Alex Sotek (Women's Swimmer), and Morgan Davey (Women's Dive).

Palmer led SUNY Geneseo to a 159-141 win at Ithaca on Saturday, which moved the Knights to 11-0 in dual meets this season. He took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.04 seconds and annexed the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:04.28 in addition to the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.39). He was also on the winning 200-yard medley relay team that hit the wall in 1:30.68. It is Palmer's fourth E8 weekly honor of 2025-26.

Meder was a stalwart on Saturday, placing first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, as the Knights moved to 11-0 in 2025-26 with a 159-141 win over Ithaca. He recorded a score of 354.00 in the 1-meter event and 353.85 in the 3-meters, winning both by over 60 points. It is his seventh E8 weekly honor of the season.

Sotek led SUNY Geneseo to a 172-128 win at Ithaca on Saturday, which moved the Knights to 11-0 in dual meets this season. She took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.05 seconds and annexed the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.04 and won the 100-free in 52.12 seconds. She was also on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team that hit the wall in 1:36.25. It is Sotek's fourth E8 weekly honor of the season.

Davey helped SUNY Geneseo defeat Ithaca College and move to 11-0 on dual meets this past weekend by winning both 1-and 3-meter diving events. She scored 290.05 points in the 1-meter and 278.90 in the 3-meter win. It is Davey's second E8 weekly honor of 2025-26.

Hagan won two events to lead Geneseo to a first-place finish at the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup this past weekend. He took first in the mile, recording a time of 4:08.63, to beat out second place by .14 seconds. Hagan notched his second winning performance of the meet by winning the 800-meters in a time of 1:53.07. His converted times put him fifth nationally in both the 800-meters and the mile run to date this season. It is Hagan's second straight E8 weekly accolade.

Doody shattered the Empire 8 record in the 800-meters by winning the event by more than five seconds in a time of 2:11.67 at the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup.
