GENESEO, N.Y. – More than 100 SUNY Geneseo student-athletes and coaches turned out early on Sunday, Oct. 18, for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in at ESL Ballpark in Rochester, N.Y. They made up the largest group at the event.
The Knights braved a chilly morning in custom "One Knight. One Fight." team T-shirts and face paint. Their preparation extended well beyond the walk itself. As of Tuesday Oct. 20, Geneseo Athletics has raised $8,239.04 toward its $10,000 goal, ranking third out of 391 teams. Donations support the American Cancer Society's work to fund cancer research, patient support, and advocacy efforts to end breast cancer. The Geneseo Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) put together the department's participation.
"It was a beautiful morning, and I couldn't be more proud to be a Knight," said Geneseo Director of Athletics Dani Drews. "Our student-athletes gave up a Sunday morning, brought incredible energy, and put in so much work ahead of time to raise more than $8,000 for a cause that matters. Seeing the largest group at the event wearing Geneseo gear says a lot about who they are. I'm grateful to SAAC and to everyone who showed up for our community."
Donations to the Geneseo team are still being accepted HERE.
