GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field won the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup on Saturday, Jan. 31, posting 209 points with the University of Rochester finishing second at 102.
Ann Brennan and
Ari Reback kicked off the track portion of the meet for Geneseo in the 5000m, posting times of 17:50.01 and 17:57.63 in second and third, respectively. In the mile, Geneseo took second through fourth, with
Greylynn Guyer leading the way at 5:15.38.
Brynn Mooney kept the momentum going for the Knights in the 400m, finishing 2nd at 58.57. In the 60m hurdles,
Jillian Ambler and
Mackenzie Kubat controlled the top of the podium, placing first and second with times of 8.61 and 9.26, respectively.
Sierra Doody added another first place finish to the day for Geneseo, winning the 800m with a time of 2:11.67. Ambler went on to notcher her second first place finish of the day in the 200m, posting a time of 25.44. The Knights capped off the track events in the 4x400 relay, where the team of
Nicole Gretzinger, Doody,
Ava Bagley, and Mooney won with a time of 4:03.15.
Lauren Jaklitsch provided a highlight for Geneseo in the field events by winning the weight throw with a distance of 16.50. In the triple jump, the Knights finished first and second behind a distance of 11.23 from
Elsye Klump and 10.96 by
Marisa Mazzacco.
Elaina Flaitz rounded out the field events with a second place finish at a distance of 1.53.
