ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track & field team competed at the RIT Invite on Friday to kick off their second semester of action.
Sierra Doody, Ann Brennan, Ari Reback and Kaitlyn Hotaling took second through fifth in the mile, with Doody running a 5:07.79 for second. Nicole Gretzinger, Ava Bagley, Dakota Limbert swept the top three spots in the 800m, with Gretzinger leading the way at 2:21.81. The Knights capped off the track events by earning hte top two spots in the 4x400 relay. The team of Isabella Lagios, Bagley, Gretzinger, and Jillian Ambler finished first at 4:00.53, while Ava Brogan, Chloe Abbott, Limbert, and Alexa Kosier took second at 4:12.57.
In the field events, Payton Mehalick led for the women in the shot put, throwing 12.36m for fourth place, followed by Lauren Jaklitsch in fifth with a throw of 12.31m. Jillian Ambler took first in the long jump at 5.94, while Mackenzie Kubat landed in second at 5.64. Elaina Flaitz finished third in the high jump at 1.53. Jaklitsch capped off her day in the weight throw, taking first at 17.13.
Geneseo will return to action next Saturday at the Nazareth Challenge Cup.
