HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team traveled to Houghton on Wednesday afternoon and picked up a 6-1 victory. The win improves the Knights record to 4-2 overall and 6-1 in Empire 8 action.
The Knights swept the doubles action to earn the first point of the match, only dropping two games along the way.
Natalie Pipes and
JoAnn Catalano led the way at first doubles with a 6-1 win, while
Samantha Rava and
Rachel Molloy recorded a win at second doubles by a score of 6-1 as well.
Talia Wutz and
Ashleigh Fredriksen rounded out the sweep with a 6-0 victory at third doubles.
The Knights were able to continue thier momentum into singles action, winning five of the six matches to secure the 6-1 victory. Pipes won at first singles by a score of 6-2 6-2, while Rava only dropped four games as well at second singles with a score of 6-1 6-3. Molloy kept the winning ways going with a 6-1 6-2 victory at third singles, and Catalano cruised to a 6-0 6-2 win at fourth singles.
Lauren Levatino rounded out the match with a 6-0 6-1 win at sixth singles.
Geneseo will return to action this weekend when they travel to the ITA Tournament at Skidmore, beginning Friday at 9 a.m.
