Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team defeated Utica 7-0 on Sunday afternoon, only dropping two games over the nine matches played. The Knights improve to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 action.
Natalie Pipes and
JoAnn Catalano kicked off the action with a 6-0 win at first doubles, while
Talia Wutz and
Ashleigh Fredriksen followed suit with a 6-0 win at second doubles. Geneseo secured the sweep of doubles play with
Emily Rowe and
Emily Kamber winning 6-1 at third doubles.
Singles action saw more dominant play from the Knights, with second through sixth singles all earning 6-0 6-0 victories.
Samantha Rava and
Rachel Molloy won at second and third singles, respectively.
Lauren Levatino kept the winning ways going at sixth singles with the sweep, while Catalano and Wutz picked up victories at fourth and fifth singles. Pipes completed her 2-0 day with a 6-0 6-1 victory at first singles.
Geneseo will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Houghton.
