Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team picked up its first Empire 8 win of the season on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Nazareth 7-0. The Knights improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference action, while the Golden Flyers fall to 0-2.
The Knights started off the match with a sweep of the doubles action, as
Talia Wutz and
Ashleigh Fredriksen highlighted doubles with a thrilling 7-5 win at third doubles.
Natalie Pipes and
JoAnn Catalano picked up a 6-3 victory at first doubles, while
Samantha Rava and
Rachel Molloy cruised to a 6-2 win at second doubles.
In singles action, Pipes picked up a 7-6 (4) 6-2 win at first singles, while Rava won at second singles by a score of 6-1 6-2. Molloy added another point for Geneseo at third singles with a 7-5 6-3 victory, while Catalano and Wutz won by scores of 6-1 6-3 and 6-4 6-1, respectively.
Lauren Levatino rounded out the sweep for the Knights at sixth singles with a score of 6-2 6-2.
Geneseo will return to action on Sunday, hosting Utica at 1 p.m.
