GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo finished the 2024-25 year as the 18th ranked Division III school in the country in the Learfield Directors Cup, marking the seventh top-25 finish in the last 10 years for the Knights. The Learfield Directors' Cup measures the overall excellence of intercollegiate athletic programs across the nation.
COMPLETE NCAA DIVISION III LEARFIELD DIRECTORS' CUP STANDINGS
The Knights compiled 674.50 points to place 18th among the Division III institutions in the nation. Geneseo concludes the year as the second highest New York institution, trailing only NYU (8th), and are the third-highest ranked public institution, only sitting behind Wisconsin La Crosse (10th) and Wisconsin Whitewater (14th).
This past spring, the Knights picked up 142.50 points from the women and men's track and field teams. The women's team placed seventh behind two-time national champion Penelope Greene, while the men placed eighth over for 70.5 points.
Geneseo had a dominant winter season, earning 339.50 points, with 83 points coming from men's ice hockey's trip to the semifinals, 75 points from women's indoor track and field placing fifth, and 64 points from women's basketball's trip to the Sweet 16 leading the way. Men's and women's swimming and diving combined for 108 points with a pair of top-25 finishes, and men's indoor track and field chipped in 13.5 points.
In the fall season, men's and women's cross country led the way with a combined 142.5 points as both teams placed in the top 10 at the championship meet. Field hockey and women's soccer then combined for 50 points after both teams won the Empire 8 Tournament and reached NCAA's.
