GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team hosted its Early Season Invite on Saturday, April 5, and came away with some impressive performances in difficult weather conditions.
In the track events,
Isabel Marzec and
Jillian O'Rourke took first and second overall in the 3000m Steeplechase, posting times of 11:40.91 and 11:45.70. In the 100m hurdles,
Jillian Ambler kept the winning ways going, placing first 14.06 seconds.
Brynn Mooney added a first place finish for the Knights in the 100m, recording a time of 11.76 seconds, then competed in the 200m and finished first again, with a time of 24.20. In the 800m,
Sierra Doody led the way for Geneseo with a time of 2:13.33 as the first runner to cross the finish line.
Penelope Greene and
Lilly Fowler-Conner were the top two runners in the 5000m, recording times of 16:43.90 and 17:19.66, respectively.
Ava Bagley took second in the 400m hurdles, and the 4x400 team of
Nicole Gretzinger,
Isabella Lagios,
Ava Brogan, and Doody finished second as well to round out the track events.
On Friday in the field events,
Zoe Connor took first in the hammer throw at 48.75, then
Skyler Klimow earned second place in the javelin at 39.79. Connor went on to tie for first on Saturday in the shot put at 11.98m, then
Elsye Klump took third in the triple jump to highlight the Knights efforts in the field events.
