ROCHESTER, N.Y. AND CHESTER, P.A. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team competed at both the University of Rochester and Widener University on Saturday, April 19.
At Widener,
Jillian Ambler took the top spot in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 14.46 seconds.
Sierra Doody and
Janelle Eckl went on to put up impressive performances in the 800m, recording times of 2:08.09 and 2:08.98, both top-10 times in Division III entering the weekend.
Brynn Mooney competed in the 200m for the Knights and placed third with a time of 24.61, which is tied for 20th in the country. Geneseo picked up first and second place finishes in the 10,000m, as
Gabby McCarthy recorded a time of 35:38.67, a top-20 time in Division III, while
Ann Brennan took second at 36:08.28. The relay team of
Lindsay Tellez, Mooney, Ambler, and
Kayla Huba added a first place finish in the 4x100 relay at 47.48. Then the 4x400 relay team of Eckl, Ambler, Mooney and Doody finished first at 3:48.13, a top-10 time in Division III.
Ava Bagley took second in the 400m hurdles at 1:02.72, and
Lanna Wandy took fifth in the long jump at 5.50m to round out the top-five finishes at Widener for Geneseo.
The Knights placed third at the University of Rochester Meet tallying 105 points. The Knights picked up a combined 39 points from the 1500m and 5000m events. In the 1500m,
Penelope Greene and
Lilly Fowler-Conner placed first and second, respectively, with Greene posting a time of 4:35.18. Geneseo went on to place four runners in the top eight in the 5000m, with
Ella Grinnell leading the way in second place at 18:48.17.
Ari Reback picked up 10 points in the 3000m steeplechase with a first place finish at 11:40.11, while
Sophia Barclay took second in the 100m hurdles third in the 400m hurdles. In the field events,
Zoe Connor led three Knights placing in the top five of the hammer throw, taking the top spot with a distance of 52.51. In the shot put, Connor finished second overall at 12.16.
