ITHACA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team placed first overall at AARTFC Regionals this weekend at Ithaca. The Knights finished first with 106 points, while Ithaca took second with 81.83.
DAY ONE:Â
Lanna Wandy had an incredible day, taking first in the women's pentathlon, scoring a total of 3514 points. Her first place finishes in the long jump (5.68m) and shot put (9.72m) and second place finish in the 800m (2:25.59) secured her the top spot. Zoe Connor took second in the shot put, with a final score of 13.29m, which set a new program record. Janelle Eckl had a great showing in the long jump, placing second overall with her jump of 5.67m. In the 5000m, Gabriella McCarthy finished on top with a time of 17:27.92. Teammate Ann Brennan took third with a time of 17:43.87.  In the 4x400, Jillian Ambler, Janelle Eckl, Ava Bagley and Brynn Mooney took second place with a time of 3:52.59. Â
DAY TWO:
Lauren Jaklitsch set a new program record for Geneseo in the weight throw, finishing first with a distance of 17.83m. Jaklitsch's weight throw beats out teammate Zoe Connor's previous record of 17.81m earlier this season, who went on to finish fourth at Regionals. Penelope Greene competed in the mile for the Knights and took second overall at 4:57.56. Eckl continued her impressive meet for Geneseo by competing in the 800m, where she finished first with a time of 2:13.64. The Knights added three points in the 3000m as Jillian O'Rourke and Ari Reback took seventh and eighth, respectively. Geneseo capped off the meet with 4x200 relay team of Ambler, Mooney, Kayla Huba, and Lindsay Tellez finishing first with a time of 1:43.39.
