ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Brynn Mooney earned her first career National Championship on Saturday afternoon at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship Meet at Nazareth, placing first overall in the 400m with a time of 55.69. The Knights went on to finish fifth overall in the meet with 29 points, including 10 from Mooney in the 400m and 13 from
Penelope Greene who finished as the National Runner-Up in the 5000m and fourth in the 3000m. The fifth place finish marks the highest team finish at the NCAA Indoor Championship Meet in program history for the women's program.
DAY ONE:
Greene competed in the 5000m for the Knights, and crossed the finish line in second place for National Runner-Up honors with a time of 16:39.36, just eight seconds back from first place.
Lilly Fowler-Conner also competed in the 5000m and earned Second-Team All-American honors in 14th place.
Brynn Mooney kept the strong showings going for Geneseo by placing second in the 400m prelims with a time of 56.16.
Janelle Eckl and
Lanna Wandy took on the Pentathlon, with Eckl finishing fifth overall for First-Team All-American honors, while Wandy came in at 16th place for Second-Team All-American recognition. Eckl totaled 3657 points, with the highlight of her competition coming in the high jump and 800m, where she placed first in both events.
Jillian Ambler took on the 60m hurdles for the Knights, and earned Second-Team All-American honors by placing 12th overall with a time of 8.82 seconds. Ambler also competed in the long jump and took 11th place at 5.57m.
Sierra Doody raced in the 800m, where she finished 13th with a time of 2:13.19 for Second-Team All-American honors. The women's 4x400 relay rounded out the track events by qualifying for finals with an eighth place finish. The team of Ambler, Mooney,
Nicole Gretzinger, and Doody finished in 3:51.94.
In the field events,
Zoe Connor and
Lauren Jaklitsch competed in the weight throw, with Connor bringing home Second-Team All-American honors in 15th place with a distance of 16.86m. Jaklitsch took 17th with a distance of 16.78m.
DAY TWO:
Mooney kicked off the second day of competition for Geneseo with the national championship run in the 400m, marking the Knights fifth overall individual championship for indoor track and field.
Penelope Greene was next up for Geneseo, fresh off her runner-up finish in the 5000m the day before, and earned her second First-Team All-American honor of the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 3000m. The 4x400 relay team of
Jillian Ambler,
Nicole Gretzinger,
Sierra Doody, and Mooney capped off the day of competition with a seventh-place finish at a time of 3:49.61 for First-Team All-American honors.
