GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team traveled to Nazareth on Friday evening to compete in their final meet before the Empire 8 Championship Meet next weekend.
In the mile, the Knights put up an impressive performance, placing eight runners in the top-ten.
Penelope Greene and
Lilly Fowler-Conner led the way, placing first and second just .07 seconds off from each at 5:02.24 and 5:02.31, respectively. In the 400m,
Janelle Eckl earned the top spot by crossing the finish line in under a minute at 59.75.
Jillian Ambler and
Elaina Flaitz kept the momentum going into the 60m hurdles, placing first and second with times of 8.98 and 9.20, respectively.
Ari Reback led Geneseo in the 800m, crossing the finish line in second at 2:20.09, an AARTFC qualifying time.
Jillian O'Rourke added a first place finish for the Knights in the 1000m with a time of 3:05.76. Geneseo ended the track events with the 4x200 and 4x400 relays, where the team of Ambler,
Samantha Pynn,
Kayla Huba, and
Lindsay Tellez took first in the 4x200 at 1:45.71, and the team of
Sierra Doody,
Nieve Mahood,
Hannah Wierer, and Reback led the way for the Knights in the 4x400 with a time of 4:08.25.
In the field events, Ambler continued her impressive day by earning the top spot in the long jump at 5.75m, while Huba took second at 5.42m. Flaitz and Eckl followed suit in the high jump, placing first and second both with a height of 1.58m.
Lauren Jaklitsch took second in the weight throw with a distance of 16.43, and
Payton Mehalick earned third in the shot put at 12.11m.
