ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's cross country team won the Empire 8 Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1 after placing six runners inside the top-10 at the championship race. The victory marks the Knights second Empire 8 title in as many years, and 11th-straight conference championship.
James Tette was the top runner for Geneseo in the race, finishing second overall with a time of 25:58.4. Following Tette was
Thomas Blake (26:07.6), Connorr Hitt (26:22.7),
Anson Butler (26:24.2), and
Kole Owens (26:32.1) in fourth through seventh place, respectively.
Owen Willard rounded out the Knights inside the top-10 with a time of 26:51.9 in ninth place, while
Owen Murphy and
Mario Verruto both placed inside the top-15 with times of 27:11.9 and 27:15.1, respectively.
The Knights won the race with 24 points, while Utica placed second at 72 and Houghton third with 82.
