BUFFALO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's swimming and diving team defeated Division I opponent, Canisius, 175-125, improving to 4-0 overall to start the season.
Hannah Brockman opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing at 10:43.96, followed by Abby Funk and Thalia Marquez in second and third place. Brockman and Funk were on top again in the 500-yard freestyle with final times of 5:20.97 and 5:24.15. In the 100-and 200-yard breaststroke, Emily Thomas finished on top with times of 1:06.41 and 2:26.63. Chloe Marcyan took first in the 200-yard butterfly
In the 50-yard freestyle, Sibby Lowe, Erin Johannsen and Hannah Brianard swept the top three spots, touching at 24.70, 24.84 and 25.27, respectively. Alex Sotek led the way in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing at 59.17, followed by Sibby Lowe only .44 seconds later.
In the 1-meter dive, the Knights took first through fourth place, with Lydia Benjamin on top with a score of 222.90. Lauren Savage led the way in the 3-meter dive with a score of 209.70, followed by Benjamin and Morgan Davey in second and third. The 400-meter freestyle relay took first with a final time of 3:36.75.
The Knights compete at Brockport next Friday, October 31st at 5 PM.
