ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team finished first out of 10 teams at the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup on Saturday afternoon, the Knights first meet of the second semester.
Brynn Mooney set a new program record in the first round of the 60m race, posting a time of 7.69 seconds, also marking a new meet record. Mooney went on to win the 60m final with a time of 7.72. The record setting ways continued for the Knights, as
Penelope Greene posted a new meet record in the mile with a time of 5:03.18. Geneseo dominated the mile race, with seven Knights finishing in the top eight.
Zoe Connor rounded out the record setting performances in the meet, recording a new program record in the weight throw as she placed first with a distance of 17.33.
Early in the meet,
Annika Hurley got the Knights going with a first place finish in the 5000m, crossing the finish line with a time of 18:23.13.
Sierra Doody kept the winning ways going for the Knights in the 800m by posting a time of 2:19.32, while
Janelle Eckl was right behind her at 2:19.59. In the 3000m,
Ann Brennan took home the top spot for Geneseo with a time of 10:21.93, while
Gabby McCarthy took second at 10:22.97. In the distance medley relay, the team of
Ella Grinnell,
Ava Brogan,
Dakota Limbert, and
Ari Reback finished first overall at 12:42.70.
In the field events,
Zoe Connor earned her second, first place finish of the day by earning the top spot in the shot put at 12.80m. Also highlighting the field events was
Janelle Eckl placing third in the long jump and
