CLEVELAND, O.H. - The No. 23 SUNY Geneseo women's swimming and diving team came up short at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 215-85. The defeat marks the Knights first of the season, as they move to 4-1 overall.
Hannah Brockman and
Abby Funk got the meet started on a high note for the Knights, placing first and second, respectively, in the 1000-yard freestyle. Brockman touched the wall first with a time of 10:42.08, while Funk was close behind at 10:47.70 in the second race of the meet for Geneseo.
Emily Thomas added another first place finish for the Knights a few races later, earning the top spot with a time of 1:07.73. Thomas would add another first place finish to her meet in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:32.32. Funk and Brockman continued their strong performances in distance events, finishing second and third, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle.
Alise Hale picked up a second place finish for the Knights in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 58.92.
Lydia Benjamin highlighted the diving portion of the meet for Geneseo taking second in the three-meter dive with a score of 237.67, and third in the one-meter dive at 244.80.
