ALFRED NY- The Geneseo Women's Swim and Dive team took down Alfred this evening as they opened their 2025 season, winning 200-76.
They started the night taking the top two places in the 200-yard medley relay. Maya Marcyan, Emily Thomas, Alise Hale, and Courtney Sorbello took first with a time of 1:50.38 and set a new pool record, while teammates Lia Edlin-Miller, Sarah Cooper, Kaitlyn Geary, and Emily McCord took second with a time of 1:55.07. Karly Bray and Maeve Wright took first and second respectively in the 1000-yard freestyle while Hannah Brockman, Emily Thomas and Marianna Santabarbara took first through third in the 200 freestyle.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Sorbello, McCord, and Geary took the top three spots and Sorbello had a great race in the 100 freestyle, finishing at 55.95. Thomas took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching at 2:33.53. In the 200-yard IM, Makayla French finished first with a time of 2:21.22 with Marcyan finishing just three seconds later at 2:24.07.
The team took first, second and third place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the top team of Hale, McCord, Sorbello and Santabarbara finishing in 3:45.16. In diving, Lydia Benjamin and Lauren Savage took first and second in the 3-meter, scoring 250.30 and 245.50, respectively. They continued their incredible performance in the 1-meter with Benjamin placing first with 244.60 and Savage scoring 231.55.
