ALFRED, NY- The Geneseo Men's Swim and Dive team defeated Alfred 178-120 this evening in their first meet of 2025.
Geneseo started the night with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, with Griffin Merkling, Jordan Nielsen, Jake Nielsen, and Gannon Moore finishing at 1:34.15, and setting a new pool record. Colin Babbitt and Cameron Fairley took first and second in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing at 1:50.15 and 1:54.91. Jack Keene dominated in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.69, with teammates Jordan Nielsen takign first and setting a new pool record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.10 and Casey Connors finishing in second with a time of 22.24.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Chris Varrichico finished on top with a time of 48.30, with Moore and Keene finishing right behind him in second and third place. Merkling took first in the 200 backstroke, touching at 2:00.27 and Colin Babbitt did the same in the 500-yard freestyle, ending with a time of 4:59.06.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Nielsen, Nielsen, Connors, and Moore took the top spot with a time of 3:13.66. Trent Makowiec took first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 364.65 and in the 3-meter dive with a score of 390.75, while also setting a new pool record in the 3-meter in the process.
The Knights with travel to Case Western University on January 18th.
