ITHACA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's swimming and diving team pulled out a thrilling win at the Ithaca tri-meet, defeating the Bombers 152-148. The Knights completed the sweep by cruising past Union with a score of 238-53.
The Knights first win of the meet came from
Griffin Merkling, who took first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 51.95.
Ben Ludlow then kept the winning ways going with a time of 1:51.76 for the first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly. Ludlow tacked on his second win of the day a few events later, touching first with a time of 1:53.59 in the 200 yard backstroke.
Alex Palmer then joined Ludlow and Merkling by winning the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.90.
Ludlow capped off his impressive meet by earning the top spot in the 400 IM with a time of 4:07.47. The Knights followed up Ludlow's performance by capping off the swimming portion of the meet with a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of

Gannon Moore, and
Brian Pabisch touched the wall first at 1:21.80. In the diving,
Trent Makowiec continued his dominant season by taking first in both the one and three meter events. In the one-meter, Makowiec scored a 362.10, while teammate
Greg Meder took second at 303.45. In the three-meter dive, Makowiec put up 365.90, while Meder finished second at 292.35.
The Knights will return to action at the SUNYAC Championship meet, beginning Wed. Feb. 21 at Erie Community College. For the full results from today's meet,
