GAMBIER, OH- The Women's Swimming & Diving team headed to Kenyon College to compete at the Total Performance Invite from November 21st to November 23rd.
DAY ONE- In prelims, Alex Sotek had an incredible 50-freestyle race with a second place finish and time of 23.08. The finish not only set a new Geneseo school record but also an NCAA B cut time. The women started strong in the 200-yard freestyle relay finals, with Sarah Cooper, Emily McCord, Marianna Santabarbara and Kaitlyn Geary taking 9th place with a time of 1:37.46. The 400-yard medley team of Nina Chicatelli, Alise Hale, Alex Sotek and Emily Thomas took 7th with a finish time of 3:50.59.
DAY TWO- The 200-yard medley had a fifth place finish to start the day, with Chicatelli, Sotek, Thomas and Hale finishing with a time of 1:43.87 and qualified for an NCAA B cut. Teammates Courtney Sorbello, Sarah Cooper, Kaitlyn Geary and Marianna Santabarbara took tenth. Alise Hale and Alex Sotek followed with a fourth and sixth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, touching at 56.30 and 56.42 respectively. MaKayla French took tenth in the 400-yard IM, finishing with a time of 4:47.74. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Emily Thomas finished in 12th with a 1:05.38. Sotek had another great finish, taking fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, while Chicatelli took seventh.
DAY THREE- In the 200-yard butterfly, Alise Hale set a new school record, breaking her won, and secured a b cut for NCAA. The 400-yard freestyle team took 6th place in finals, with Chicatelli, Sotek, Sorbello and Erin Johannsen finishing at 3:29.55. Hannah Brockman finished sixth with a time of 17:28.86 in the 1650-yard freestyle and Abby Funk was close behind in ninth. Sotek took fourth in the in the 100-yard freestyle, touching at 51.10. The team finished the meet with 706 points and sixth place.
WHAT'S NEXT- The Knigths will head down the road to RIT on December 6th.
