HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's cross country team won the Empire 8 championship on Saturday, Nov. 2 by sweeping the top five spots in the race. This marks the Knights first title in their new conference and the program's 13th consecutive conference championship overall.
Penelope Greene led the pack of Geneseo runners at the front of the race, finishing the 6k course in 21:26.1 for the first place finish.
Lilly Fowler-Conner was close behind in second place at 21:39.1, while
Ann Brennan (22:07.3),
Gabby McCarthy (22:07.8), and
Jillian O'Rourke (22:20.3) rounded out the sweep of the top five for the Knights. Geneseo also had three more runners place inside the top-10 with
Sierra Doody in eighth (22:31.7),
Ari Reback in ninth (22:32.3) and
Annika Hurley in 10th (22:32.9).
The Knights finished the meet with the best possible score of 15 points, with Nazareth in second at 82 points and Utica in third at 89. For the full results from the meet,

Geneseo will now turn their attention towards the Niagara Regional meet hosted by Fredonia on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.
