GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo equestrian team opened up their 2024-25 season at home this weekend, hosting shows on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27. The Knights finished tied for fourth overall on Saturday and tied for third on Sunday.
On Saturday, Geneseo's day was highlighted by five individual first-place finishes.
Ashley Merz placed first in limit equitation over fences,
Teagan Werner and
Aubree Yokota took first in novice equitation on the flat,
Katherine Daviau earned first in pre-novice equitation on the flat, and
Arianna Jimenez finished first in introductory equitation on the flat. Also putting up strong performances on Saturday was
Colden Pike finishing second in limit equitation over fences,
Hannah Klein taking third in novice equitation on the flat, and Merz placing second in limit equitation on the flat.
Sunday saw more impressive performances from the Knights, as they tallied five more first place finishes. Merz highlighted the day for Geneseo as she placed first in limit equitation over fences and flat and won high point rider for the entire show. Pike took first in limit equitation on the flat, Yokota and Teagan finished first in novice equitation on the flat, and
Clare O'Brien placed first in introductory equitation on the flat. Additionally,Â
Katherine Dristle placed second in novice equitation on the flat, Daviau finished second in pre-novice equitation on the flat, and Jimenez took second in introductory equitation on the flat.
Pike pointed out from limit equitation over fences into intermediate over fences, and Werner pointed out from the novice division into limit equitation over fences and flat. The Knights return to Leg Up Stables on Saturday, Nov. 2 for their final home show of the season.
