GENESEO, NY- The SUNY Geneseo Women's Tennis team finished their regular season with a 6-3 win over Sage today. The Knights enter the postseason with the No.2 seed, an overall record of 7-1 and conference record of 6-1.
The Knights faced tough competition at first doubles, with Sam Rava and Rachel Molloy falling 8-3 against Sage. Natalie Pipes and Joann Catalano came out with the 8-6 win at second doubles and teammates Katie Kujawa and Elena Deriso finished with an impressive 8-3 victory at third doubles.
In singles play, Pipes fell at first singles 6-2 in both sets, along with a tough 6-0 and 6-1loss by Rava. Molloy won at third singles by a score of 6-0 and 6-2 and Kujawa earned another point for Geneseo at fourth singles with a 6-0 and 7-5 win. Catalano and DeRiso rounded out the team, going 6-3/6-0 and 6-3/6-2 respectively.
The team will head into the post season ranked second in the Empire 8 conference and will head to Hartwick to compete in the E8 Championship on Saturday, October 19th.
