GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's swimming and diving team opened up its 2024-25 season with a 211-71 victory over Alfred St. in Alumni Pool on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The Knights opened up the swim portion of the meet with the 200 yard medley relay, where the team of
Griffin Merkling,
Alex Palmer,
Brian Pabisch, and
Jake Nielsen took first at 1:34.03.
Will Fagan kept the momentum going into the 1000 yard freestyle, where he finished first at 10:51.99. Geneseo had a thrilling finish in the 200 yard freestyle, where Pabisch and
Jordan Nielsen tied for first with a time of 1:46.57. The 100 yard freestyle saw more Knights at the top of the leaderboard, with
Edmund Wilson earning the win at 56.56.
Jake Nielsen earned the fifth, first-place finish of the meet in the 100 yard breaststroke at 59.58. Closing out the first half of the meet with first place finishes was
Connor Baird in the 200 yard butterfly (2:01.47) and
Alex Stoker in the 50 yard freestyle (22.71).
Jake Nielsen kept the momentum going in the 100 yard freestyle with a top time of 47.11, then Palmer earned first in the 200 yard backstroke at 1:58.8.
Jordan Nielsen added another win to his day posting a time of 2:13.70 in the 200 yard breaststroke. Colin Babbit nabbed first place in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in 4:59.37.
Arman Tresnjo posted the final first place finish of the meet for the Knights in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 55.94.Â
On the diving side,
Trent Makowiec swept both events scoring 345.60 in the one-meter dive and 355.30 in the three-meter dive.
Greg Meder was second in the one-meter dive at 309.35. For the full results from today's meet,

Geneseo will return to the pool next Saturday, as they compete in a quad meet at the Webster Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
