ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's swimming and diving team went on the road to take on RIT and the Univeristy of Rochester at the RIT Tri-Meet. The Knights came away with a decisive 216-82 win over the Yellowjackets, but fell to the hosts 178-121.
Geneseo opened up the meet with the team of
Griffin Merkling,
Jake Nielsen,
Ben Ludlow, and
Jordan Nielsen finishing second in the 200 yard medley relay at 1:33.84. Colin Babbit then backed it up in the 1000 yard freestyle in second place at 10:14.44.
Jake Nielsen tallied the first win of the meet for the Knights in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 20.93 while
Jordan Nielsen took second at 21.18.
Jake Nielsen went on to finish first in back to back events, posting a time of 46.75 in the 100 yard freestyle.
Ludlow continued his impressive performances at the meet with a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke, recording a time of 1:55.11.
Alex Palmer then followed it up in the 200 yard breaststroke, taking second with a time of 2:09.05. The Knights were dominant in the 200 yard IM, with Ludlow taking first at 1:57.19 and Palmer in second at 1:58.83. Geneseo capped off the swimming portion of the meet with a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:06.97.
Trent Makowiec shined in the diving portion of the meet, taking first in both events. In the three-meter dive, Makowiec scored 394.25 and then followed it up in the one-meter dive with a score of 346.80.
Greg Meder was the second highest scoring diver for the Knights, posting 297.65 in the one-meter and 310.15 in the three-meter.
