ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's cross country team opened its season at the St. John Fisher-Rodenbeck Invitational on Friday afternoon, and barely missed out on a first-place finish. The Knights tied RIT at 29 points, but lost out on a tiebreaker to take second place.

Geneseo was led by a pair of freshmen as Jillian O'Rourke and Marlo Townsend took second and fourth with times of 14:55.6 and 15:02.5, respectively. The next four runners for the Knights also finished in the top-10 in the 4k race, with Ann Brennan taking sixth (15:07.2), Marie Naudus eighth (15:15.9), Emily Miller ninth (15:22.7) and Annie Bolke tenth (15:26.1).
