USTA TENNIS CENTER, FL. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team capped off their spring break trip to Florida by defeating Emerson, 6-3.
Alex Galle and
Rory Tobin got doubles action started off on a strong note, winning first doubles 8-3. After
Katie Kujawa and
Julia Kimmel fell at third doubles,
Kylie Seiler and
Abigail Rockwood picked up a crucial 8-6 victory at second doubles to give the Knights a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
Geneseo cruised to four victories in singles action to help seal the 6-3 win. Galle took first singles, 6-1, 6-4, while Tobin and Seiler won second and third singles, respectively. Tobin earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory, and Seiler won 6-2, 6-3. Rockwood dropped a third set super tiebreaker at fourth singles, but Kujawa rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Kimmel was unable to pull out the victory at sixth singles.
The Knights will return to action at Penn St. Behrend on Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m.
