GENESEO, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its major awards for men's cross country on Thursday, December 7, and the SUNY Geneseo took home Coaching Staff of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
Emerson Comer had a standout season for the Knights to earn Rookie of the Year, while head coach
Dan Moore and assistant coaches
Chris Popovici and Ashton Fischer picked up the Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Comer was the top rookie at the 2023 SUNYAC championship meet, finishing in 14th place. He completed the 8k course in 26:08.3 helping Geneseo to a first place finish overall.
Moore, Popovici, and Fischer led the Knights to their ninth-straight SUNYAC Championship. The Knights also went on to take first at the Niagara Regional Meet to qualify for the NCAA Championship meet. On the season, Geneseo took first place at five different meets, and finished top-five at two others.
