GENESEO, N.Y. - The men's swimming and diving team honored its seven seniors before their meet against Buffalo St. on Saturday afternoon, and then went out and put on a dominant performance by breaking seven pool records.
The Knights kicked things off with the team of
Griffin Merkling,
Jake Nielsen,
Mark Crocker, and
Jordan Nielsen setting a new pool, school, and conference record in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:30.47. Senior
Sam Matthews kept the record setting pace going in the 200 yard freestyle, breaking the pool record with a time of 1:40.11. In the 100 backstroke, Jake Cimorelli celebrated his senior day meet by finishing with a time of 51.01 for a new pool record.
In addition to being a part of the record setting 200 medley relay team, senior
Mark Crocker added two more record setting performances to his day. He finished the 50 yard freestyle in 20.97 for a pool record and recorded a time of 49.67 in the 100 yard butterfly for his third record-setting swim of the day.
Ben Ludlow got in on the action by recording two pool records of his own in the 200 backstroke (1:53.40), and the 400 IM (4:06.86).
On the diving side,
Trent Makowiec continued his monstrous season by setting pool records in both the one and three meter dives (11 dives). He tallied a score of 589.20 in the one meter dive, and then 599.65 in the three meter dive.
