CORTLAND, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's swimming and diving team opened up its 2022-23 season at Cortland on Saturday afternoon, and cruised to a 165-77 victory over the Red Dragons.
The Knights came out firing against the Red Dragons and won 10 out of 13 total events. Geneseo won the first seven events, with junior
Amaya DiGiovanni placing first in three of them. DiGiovanni touched the wall first in the 200-yard medley relay, the 50-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard freestyle. In the 100-yard freestyle, she beat out fellow teammate first-year
Rian Dickman by .02 seconds. Senior
Lauren Sposili also was a part of three first-place finishes, winning the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke, and taking part in the 200-yard medley relay. Senior
Alexis Falvo was on the 200-yard medley and the first-place finishing 200-yard freestyle relay, while also taking first in the 100-yard butterfly.
Geneseo has won the last six matchups against Cortland. The Knights will host their next five meets, beginning with Nazareth on October 22 at 1 p.m.
