GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's swimming and diving team had a record-setting day in their home-opening defeat of Nazareth, 170-108. 

The Knights broke four pool records during the meet, including the 400 Medley Relay, which was a pool record dating back to 1979 when Geneseo hosted the NCAA Division III Chamionship meet. Ben Ludlow, Jake Nielsen, Mark Crocker, and Sam Matthews teamed up to break the record with a time of 3:28.62. In the leadoff spot from that relay, Ludlow set the pool record in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 51.96. Matthews also went on to set a pool record, posting a time of 46.65 in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Capping off the record-setting day and the swim events for the meet, the 400 Yard Freestyle team of Jake Nielsen, Jordan Nielsen, Crocker, and Matthews broke the pool record with a time of 3:09.76.

In the diving events, both Trent Makowiec and Jacob Calus posted NCAA Regional qualifying scores. In the 1 Meter Dive, Makowiec recorded a score of 329.48 and Calus tallied 313.05. In the 3 Meter Dive, Makowiec put up 325.95 and Calus 310.58.

Geneseo will return to Alumni Pool on October 29 for a meet against Canisius at 12 p.m. The meet also marks the Geneseo Sports Hall of Fame Celebration for the Knights.
