HANOVER, N.H. - SUNY Geneseo junior Kathleen McCarey placed fourth overall as the Knights placed second against NCAA Division I competition at the Maribel Sanchez Southern Invitational on Saturday morning.
Geneseo placed second with 48 points, trailing only host Dartmouth (21 points). The Knights placed five runners in the top 15 to beat NCAA Division I competitors, Towson (3rd, 79) and Maine (4th, 100). McCarey finished the race in 22:26.86, finishing behind three Dartmouth runners while junior Windsor Ardner placed fifth with a time of 22:34.72. First-year Katie Grossman placed 13th overall with a time of 23:33.77 while junior Ciara Knott took 14th (23:34.94) followed closely by first-year Penelope Greene in 15th place (23:37.48).
The Knights will race again on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Genesee Valley Park as they take part in the YellowJacket Invitational.
