ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year Alex Galle earned a first-set victory at third singles, but it was as close as the Knights would draw to earning a point as the team fell, 9-0, to host Rochester in their season opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Geneseo trailed, 3-0, after doubles play. Junior Natalia Krol teamed with Galle at first doubles while juniors Julianna Schulz and Grace Klomp played the second flight and first-years Abigail Rockwood and Rory Tobin teamed at third doubles.
Galle earned a 6-4 win in the first set of the third singles flight, but fell in the second set to force a super-tiebreaker third set. Galle battled, but ultimately fell, 4-6, 6-0, 10-5, as the rest of the Knights took straight-set defeats.
Geneseo (0-1) will travel to face RIT on Tuesday, Apr. 13, with the match scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
