WEBSTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Kaz Sampson swept the breaststroke events as the Knights rolled past Nazareth, 195-99 to open the 2019-20 campaign on Saturday afternoon at Webster Aquatic Complex.
Sampson placed first in the 100 breast with a time of 59.72 and added a first-place finish in the 200 breast at 2:17.40. He teamed with first-year Jack Cimorelli, senior John Wilson and junior Will Eng to grab first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:36.48 as well. Cimorelli, first-year Sam Matthews and first-year Kaleb Hotaling each earned first-place finishes in their collegiate debuts. Cimorelli finished first in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.51 while Matthews grabbed a win in the 100 fly (52.24) and Hotaling took down the 200 IM (1:59.60). Sophomore Corey Wirth earned first-place scores in both diving events as the Knights won 12 out of 16 events to take down the Golden Flyers.
Geneseo (1-0) will return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they host NCAA Division I Canisius in the Knights' home opener at 1:00 p.m.
