Women's Tennis Tops FDU-Florham, 5-4

MADISON, N.J. - SUNY Geneseo junior Vanessa Lam-Tran earned a three-set victory at the first singles flight to earn the match-clinching point as the Knights took a 5-4 decision from host FDU-Florham on Saturday in New Jersey.

Lam-Tran dropped the first set, 5-7, but came back to win the second set, 6-4, to force a third set super-tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Lam-Tran took an early lead and didn't let up, taking the third set, 10-4, to earn the victory and seal the match. Senior Rachel Ollis earned a straight-set victory at second singles while junior Nina Lurie took third singles in straight sets as well.

In doubles play, Lurie teamed with senior Lauren Salzano to take the second doubles flight, 8-5, and first-year Gretchen Ayoub and Dana Sorrentino nabbed an 8-6 win at the third flight.

Geneseo improves to 10-6 on the season and will travel to New York City on Sunday to battle NYU.
