Women's Tennis Drops SUNYAC Semifinal Against Oneonta, 5-1

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team saw their seven-year reign as State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champions come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the squad fell, 5-1, to Oneonta in the SUNYAC Semifinals.

First-years Ana Amorim Da Silva Gusmini and Olga Shvetsova took an 8-5 loss at first doubles while first-year Natalia Krol and senior Vanessa Lam-Tran fell, 8-4, at the second flight. First-year Julianna Schulz and seniro Nina Lurie dropped third doubles, 8-5. 

In singles, Nina Lurie earned a straight-set win at the fifth flight, 6-4, 6-1, while Shvetsova and Schulz each won their first set at second and sixth singles, respectively, but Oneonta finished off the victory with wins at first and third singles. 

The Knights had won 11 conference championships, including seven-straight heading into this season. Geneseo (6-3) will begin their spring season on March 29 with a home match against FDU-Florham.
