GENESEO, N.Y.– SUNY Geneseo seniors Cat Crummey, Marylen Santos and Mai Hashimoto, along with junior Maggie Hale and first-year Mako Tanaka all captured their singles and doubles matches, helping lead the women's tennis team to a 9-0 win over Nazareth on Thursday. The Knights moved to 1-0 on the season with the non-conference win.

"It's always good to get that first match under your belt," said Coach Jason Stephens. "We've got some things to work on, but we're excited to be into the season and for the challenges that lie ahead."

The number-one doubles team of Crummey and Santos and the number-two duo of Hashimoto and Tanaka both took their matches 8-0. Hale and first-year Vanessa Lam-Tran captured a more closely-contested match at number-three by an 8-3 margin, giving the Knights a 3-0 lead after the doubles portion of the contest.

Geneseo's six singles players all captured their matches in straight sets, with number-one Crummey prevailing in a tight second set, 6-4. Along with wins from Santos, Tanaka, Hashimoto and Hale, sophomore Lauren Salzano captured her match at number-six singles.

The Knights open SUNYAC play with a match on Friday, Sept. 4 at Oswego.
