ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year Anna Galbraith finished in 50th place to lead the Knights to 12th place out of 24 teams at Rochester's Yellowjacket Invitational, Saturday.
"I am very pleased with the way this core group of young runners is developing," said head coach Dan Moore. "They are showing a lot of poise and control early on in races and are finishing strong. I am very proud of their accomplishments today."
Geneseo had 317 points as Cornell (18), Rochester (87), RIT (89), Cortland (126) and Ithaca (143) took the top five spots.
Galbraith crossed the finish line in a time of 24:31.8 while classmate Hunter Gowans followed in 58th (24:43.6). First-year Kylee O'Hara captured 64th (24:50.6) while first-year Audrey Button and sophomore Marisa Gingello came in 72nd (25:06.8) and 73rd (25:07.4), respectively.
Sophomore Samantha Flood finished in 77th place (25:14.3) as first-year Skylar Pastor was close behind in 78th (25:15.7) to round out the top-seven runners for the Knights.
Geneseo returns to action next Saturday, sending a contingent of runners to the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams (Mass.), while another group will head to the Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan.
