OSWEGO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year Olivia Ryan finished in first place as the Knights captured seven of the top nine spots to win the Oswego Invitational, Saturday, at Glimmer Glass Field.
"I am very pleased with the way the teams ran today," said head coach Dan Moore. "They executed the race plan to perfection. Both teams stayed very controlled at the start and on command, they responded and moved up throughout the race and closed hard. It was really great to watch the whole team moving as one pack, working and supporting one another."
Geneseo recorded 21 points to take home the victory while Cortland (43), SUNY-ESF (105), William Smith (109) and Oswego (127) rounded out the top five.
Ryan crossed the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:36.0 while teammate junior Marissa Bellusci came in second (19:43.8).
First-year Elise Ramirez took fifth place (19:47.9) followed by sophomore Kristen Homeyer in sixth (19:50.1) and senior Ashton Hughes in seventh (19:51.3).
Junior Ashley Peppriell had an eighth-place finish (19:52.3) and classmate Marissa Cossaro came in ninth (19:54.3).
