MASON, Ohio - SUNY Geneseo seniors Cassie Goodman and Alyssa Knott finished first and second, respectively, out of 321 runners to lead the women's cross country team to first place out of 27 teams at the Pre-NCAA Division-III Championship meet at the Golf Center at Kings Island, hosted by Wilmington College. The course will be the site of the 2014 NCAA Championship race in November.

The Knights placed seven runners in the top-20 for a winning team score of 34 points. Mount Union was second with 155 points, followed by NYU (160), Denison (206) and Centre (207) to round out the top-five teams.

Goodman completed the six-kilometer course with a time of 20:54:56, just under 17 seconds ahead of Knott (21:11.22). Senior Joanna Castrogivanni finished fifth with a 21:15.79 clocking.

Junior Jacquie Huben was 13th (21:35.50) followed by junior Ashton Hughes in 15th (21:38.81) to close out the Knights' top-five finishers.

First-year Kristen Homeyer (21:42.79) and senior Keira Wood (21:47.54) crossed the finish line 19th and 20th, respectively, to comprise Geneseo's top-seven finishers.

The Knights return to action next weekend, hosting the Geneseo Invitational at Letchworth State Park at 10:00 a.m.
