STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – SUNY Geneseo junior Cassie Goodman finished 21st in a field of 146 Division I, II and III runners to the lead the women's cross country team to a fifth-place showing our of nine teams at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, Friday, hosted by Penn State.
Goodman traversed the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:10, clocking the eighth-fastest time by a Division III runner. The only Division III runners to finish ahead of her were from Johns Hopkins, which is currently the top-ranked team in the nation.
Three other Knights registered top-60 finishes as junior Keira Wood finished 47th (22:52), sophomore Emma Deshaies finished 52nd (22:58) and senior Mary Aldridge finished 54th (23:01) to round out the Geneseo top-seven.
Geneseo will be back in action next weekend, traveling north of the border to compete in the Western Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 21), hosted by Western Ontario.
