BINGHAMTON, N.Y.– SUNY Geneseo sophomore Marylen Santos was victorious at number-one singles and paired with junior teammate Amanda Rosati to win at number-one doubles to lead the Knights to a 5-0 shutout over Oneonta in the semifinals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Tennis Tournament, Saturday, at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
Junior twin sisters Dexuan Yuan and Minxuan Yuan picked up a win at number-two doubles before D. Yuan also won at number-two singles for the two-time defending champion Knights.
First-years Maggie Hale and Karli Hollins teamed up to win at number-three doubles while also winning their singles matches at number-four and number-five, respectively.
Geneseo, which also swept Plattsburgh, 5-0, in the first round on Friday, advances to Sunday's Championship to play New Paltz at 10:00 a.m. The winner of that match will clinch an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
This is the third year in a row the two teams have met for the SUNYAC Championship. Geneseo has won four of the last five SUNYAC titles including the previous two years when the conference championship was determined in the current head-to-head format.
