USTFCCCA NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK (9/16/19)
GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior Genny Corcoran was voted NCAA Division III Women's National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA), Monday.
- Corcoran finished first out of 218 runners to lead Geneseo to second place out of 16 teams at the Yellowjacket Invitational, Saturday, hosted by Rochester at Genesee Valley Park.
- Also tabbed the SUNYAC Runner of the Week, she covered the six-kilometer course in 21:50.1 to beat the field by over nine seconds.
- Division I Cornell won the team championship, edging the runner-up Knights, 41-59.
- Corcoran is the second Geneseo runner in three weeks to win the national honor. First-year Ciara Knott was honored on Sept. 3 following her win at the St. John Fisher Terry Rodenbeck Invitational to become the first Knights' women's runner to ever win the award.
Geneseo competes at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan this Saturday (Sept. 21) before hosting the Mike Woods Invitational (Sept. 28) at Letchworth State Park a week later. Racing is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. both days.
