Knott Named Women's Cross Country National Runner of the Week

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo first-year Ciara Knott was tabbed NCAA Division III Women's National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA), Tuesday. She is the first Geneseo women's runner to ever win the award.

In her first collegiate race, Knott finished first out of 125 runners at the season-opening St. John Fisher Terry Rodenbeck Invitational, Friday.

Knott covered the 4,000-meter course in 15:11.9 to best the field by over 13 seconds and lead the Knights to a first-place finish out of nine teams. Geneseo compiled 28 points to edge runner-up RIT (33) and the host Cardinals (93).

The Knights next compete at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 14) at 11:00 a.m.
