ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year setter Morgan Michalski dished out a career-high 44 assists, but the Knights couldn't hold on as they fell to host Rochester, 3-1, on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Knights took a 1-0 lead with a 25-23 victory, hitting .263 with 14 kills and just four errors in the first set.
Geneseo took an early lead in the second set, but the YellowJackets hit .414 with 14 kills to just two errors in the frame to earn a 25-18 set win and tie the match, 1-1.
The Knights held a 16-15 lead in the third set, but the home team won five straight points to begin a 10-4 run and earned the set, 25-20 to take a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth set, Geneseo trailed, 20-15, but went on a 7-2 run to tie the match, 22-22, but Rochester earned three points in a row to close the fourth set and the match, 25-22.
Junior outside hitter Grace Cergol earned a double-double with a team-high 18 kills and 16 digs.
Sophomore middle blocker Kierstin Colvin hit a squad-best .312 with six kills and a team-high three service aces.
The Knights will travel to Pittsford for the Nazareth Invitational where they will take on Medaille and the host Golden Flyers on Friday, Sept. 14.
