Wandy Named USTFCCCA National Athlete Of The Week

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Alexa Wandy was named United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Women's National Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after her record-breaking start to the season.

Wandy leapt for a mark of 12.72m in the triple jump on Sunday, winning the event and shattering a nearly 20-year old State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record in the process. The senior's mark stands as the sixth-longest triple jump in NCAA Division III history, according to the NCAA Division III Track & Field Historian's Report, maintained by Pomona-Pitzer Sports Information Director Sam Porter.

Wandy, the reigning NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Champion in both the triple jump and the long jump, will join the Knights as they continue their season with the ROC City Classic, hosted by Nazareth, on Saturday, April 8.
