GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo Women's Track & Field senior Alexa Wandy and sophomore Elise Ramirez swept the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athlete of the Week awards with Wandy earning Field Athlete of the week and Ramirez locking up Track Athlete of the Week.
Wandy won the long jump competition at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational on Saturday. She bested the field with a leap of 18 feet, 6 inches (5.64m) to post the sixth-longest performance in Division III this season.
Ramirez finished second in the 5,000 at the Tufts Cupid Invitational on Saturday. In a field comprised of Division I, II and III runners as well as open competitors, Ramirez was the top collegiate finisher, clocking a time of 17:16.48 which stands as the sixth-fastest time in Division III and first in the SUNYAC this season.
The Geneseo Women's Track & Field team will travel to Boston, Mass. on Friday, February 10 to take part in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
