Women's Tennis Opens Season With 9-0 Sweep Over Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Julianna Schulz earned a three-set victory at first singles as the Knights began the 2019 campaign with a 9-0 sweep of host Nazareth on Saturday afternoon. 

Schulz teamed with sophomore Grace Klomp at second doubles for an 8-1 victory while junior Dana Sorrentino and senior Sam Montague earned an 8-5 win at the first flight and sophomores Sophia Alkhouri-Stuart and Natalia Krol grabbed an 8-0 win at third doubles. 

In singles play, Montague, Krol and Klomp each earned straight-set victories at second, third and fourth singles, respectively. Junior Cate Gluchowski notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles while Alkhouri-Stuart rounded out the lineup with a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles. 

The Knights begin the season with a 1-0 mark and will open their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) schedule on Monday when they host Fredonia at 1:00 p.m.
